What is Tenrikyo?

We sincerely appreciate your visit here.
This is a church of Tenrikyo, which speaks of our true and original state: we are given free spirits by God the Parent so that we cherish our own spiritual freedom, live in mutual help and harmony, and realize a "Joyous Life." As brothers and sisters all equally created by God the Parent, we learn how to lead the "Joyous Life" through the teachings told by Oyasama, the Foundress of the religion.
It has been more than 160 years since Tenrikyo was founded in a small village called Syoyashiki-mura in Yamato, now Nara prefecture, on October 26, 1838. The sacred place of the religion in Tenri, Nara, is called "Jiba", where we are taught is the home of all human beings.

As an international religion
The number of Tenrikyo churches now amounts to more than 17,000, not only
in Japan but in as many as 32 countries and regions.
In order to know more about Tenrikyo, we recommend that you should first visit the religion's official web site maintained by the TIC(Tenrikyo Internet Committee). It provides "Quick Summary of the Teaching", "Key Words of Tenrikyo", such and such. Though the site is mainly in English, brief introductory explanations are provided in several languages, such as Chinese, French, Italian, Korean, etc.

Our BAITO Church
You can also visit us at our Baito church. The church is located fairly
close to the center of Tokyo, approximately 8 kilometers away as the crow
flies from Tokyo Station. Bustling areas such as Shinjyuku, Shibuya, are
all within half an hour trip by subway. Detailed info about the church
is as follows.
We would be very delighted to help you realize your own "Joyous
Life." Feel free to contact us. Whenever you come, you are always
heartily welcomed. You can also simply email us. We would be very happy to have your comments and suggestions.
Here again, thank you very much for your visit, and we sincerely look forward
to your coming back soon.
